Mazeno Pass

Mazeno Pass is a very high mountain pass at about 5,400 metres, crossing the Mazeno Ridge of Nanga Parbat from Rupal Valley in Astore to Diamer. It is one of the toughest and most spectacular treks in Pakistan.

About

Mazeno Pass, at roughly 5,400 metres, lies on the Mazeno Ridge of Nanga Parbat and links the Rupal side in Astore with the Diamer side. Crossing it is part of the Around Nanga Parbat trek, which includes several high passes and three base camps of the mountain. The route usually begins at Tarashing and goes through Herrligkoffer Base Camp, Shaigiri, and Mazeno Base Camp at around 4,000 to 4,200 metres. A high camp lies higher on the glacier before the pass itself, and the crossing is a long, demanding day. It is a serious expedition for strong, experienced trekkers with good gear and support, and not a casual walk.
