Minimarg Valley is located in Astore District, Gilgit-Baltistan, close to the Line of Control (LoC). The best time to visit Minimarg Valley is from June to September. How to reach

Minimarg Valley can be reached from Islamabad via the Hazara Motorway, followed by Kaghan, Naran, and Babusar Pass before joining the Karakoram Highway (KKH). Route Islamabad → Hazara Motorway → Kaghan → Naran → Babusar Pass → Karakoram Highway → Astore Road → Astore City → Chilam Check Post → Burzil Pass → Minimarg Valley After joining the Karakoram Highway, travelers take the right turn towards Astore. After approximately 32 km, they reach Astore City. From there, it takes around 2 hours to reach Chilam Check Post, where visitors must complete the required entry formalities. To avoid delays, travelers are generally advised to reach Chilam Check Post before 11:00 AM, as entry procedures may be restricted later in the day. From Chilam, the road climbs to the spectacular Burzil Pass (13,800 ft) before descending into the breathtaking Minimarg Valley. Visitors wishing to continue further can drive approximately 40–50 minutes to reach Domel, home to the famous Rainbow Lake and Crystal Lake.

Traveller tips

Carry your original CNIC or identification documents. Complete entry formalities at Chilam Check Post before 11:00 AM whenever possible. Check road conditions before traveling, especially if using the Babusar Pass route. Carry warm clothing, as temperatures remain cool even during summer. Fill your vehicle's fuel tank before entering remote areas, as fuel stations are limited. Bring sufficient cash, drinking water, snacks, and essential medicines. Respect all security regulations, as the area is close to the Line of Control (LoC). Visit Domel, Rainbow Lake, and Crystal Lake if time permits.
