About
Sheosar Lake lies at the western end of Deosai National Park, at an elevation of about 4,114 to 4,250 metres depending on the source. The name comes from the Shina language, where sheo means blind and sar means lake. Its colour is a deep blue, and the shores are green with grass and wildflowers in summer. On a clear day, the distant peak of Nanga Parbat can be seen from the lake, which makes it even more striking. The lake is reached from Astore through Chilim, where the last settlement lies near the edge of the plains, or from Skardu on a longer jeep ride. Many visitors camp near the lake for the night.
