Babusar Pass (Babusar Top)

Babusar Pass is a high mountain pass at 4,173 metres connecting Naran in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Chilas in Gilgit-Baltistan. Its sweeping views and winding road make it one of the great summer drives in Pakistan.

About

Babusar Pass, also called Babusar Top, stands at an elevation of 4,173 metres and links the Kaghan Valley and Naran with Chilas in Diamer District. It marks the boundary between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Before the Karakoram Highway opened in 1978, this rough track was the only road reaching Gilgit town from the south. Today it remains a scenic alternative route into Gilgit-Baltistan during summer, with views of high peaks, green valleys, and, on clear days, glimpses of Nanga Parbat. The road from Lulusar Lake to the top winds through open alpine slopes and is a favourite among road-trippers and photographers.
