Baha Lake (Khukush Lake)

Baha Lake, also known as Khukush Lake, is a long turquoise alpine lake near Langar in upper Ghizer, one of the largest lakes in northern Pakistan. It is reached by trekking up Khukush Nallah and is known for its trout and wild setting.

About

Baha Lake lies in Khukush Nallah near Langar, on the way towards Shandur. It is an alpine lake at an elevation of about 3,600 metres, stretching several kilometres through a narrow valley, with a sky-blue to turquoise colour that stands out against the surrounding mountains. The lake is known for its trout and its remote, untouched feel. The trek from Langar leads through rough, rocky terrain, and the sudden view of the lake after the climb is the main reward. The lake freezes in the colder months. Baha Lake is a good destination for travellers who want an off-the-beaten-path trek in Ghizer, with camping beside the water and views of high mountain ridges.
