About
Bagrot Valley begins near Jalalabad, a short distance from Gilgit Town, and stretches into the mountains with villages, terraced fields, and high pastures. Alpine meadows cover its slopes up to nearly 5,000 metres, and the valley is surrounded by Rakaposhi to the northwest, Diran to the northeast, and the twin peaks of Dobani to the east. Life here is a mix of mountain farming and local trade. Barley, maize, potatoes, and wheat are grown, and the villages keep a traditional way of life that visitors can experience through homestays and village walks. Bagrot is known as a perfect place for trekking. The Hinarche Glacier leads towards Rakaposhi Base Camp, and many routes branch out for day hikes and longer treks, making it a quiet alternative to busier valleys.
