About
Just outside Gilgit, near the town of Jaglot, lies one of the most remarkable geographical landmarks in the world: the junction where the Himalaya, the Karakoram, and the Hindu Kush meet. It is widely described as the only place on earth where these three giant ranges converge. The meeting point reflects the long collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, the same process that lifted the highest mountains on the planet. Famous peaks such as K2, Nanga Parbat, and Rakaposhi rise within these ranges, which makes the area a draw for geologists, adventurers, and curious travellers. The viewpoint has signage marking the three ranges, and the confluence of the Gilgit and Indus rivers lies close by. It is an easy and memorable stop for anyone travelling along the Karakoram Highway.
