Duikar (Eagle's Nest)

Duikar, popularly known as Eagle's Nest, is a mountain village and viewpoint above Karimabad that offers one of the best panoramas of Hunza Valley. Famous for its sunrise and sunset, it overlooks Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, Diran, and the forts below.

About

Duikar sits high above Karimabad, and from its viewpoint, popularly called Eagle's Nest, the whole of Hunza Valley spreads out below. The Baltit and Altit forts, the meeting of the Hunza and Nagar valleys, and a ring of snow peaks including Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, and Diran are all visible from one spot. The view is most beautiful at sunrise and sunset, when the mountains turn pink and gold, and at night the clear sky is excellent for stargazing. The name comes from an eagle-shaped rock near the top and a hotel that stands at the viewpoint. Duikar is also a traditional village with warm, welcoming hosts. Staying overnight lets you enjoy a quiet mountain evening, home-style food, and a sunrise that many visitors remember as the highlight of their Hunza trip.
