Mehdiabad Valley, formerly called Parkuta, lies at the start of Kharmang District, where the Shyok and Indus rivers meet and the road continues up the Indus. The valley is a patchwork of fields, orchards, and small villages, with brown mountains rising behind them. It is also the starting point of the Mehdiabad to Dapa road, which leads up to the Deosai plateau from the southeast and offers an alternative route to Deosai National Park. Visitors enjoy the quiet pace of life, the fruit trees, and the views over the river. Mehdiabad is a pleasant stop on the way to Manthokha Waterfall and Tolti.
