About

Chumar Bakhoor lies in the upper Sumayar Valley at an elevation of roughly 5,520 metres. It is known for its gemstone-rich pegmatites, with fluorite and gem-quality aquamarine reaching the market since the 1980s. The area is a high pass that links the Sumayar valley with Nagar Khas, and it is part of the wild, mineral-rich terrain that earned Nagar the nickname Land of Jewels. It is remote, extremely high, and rarely visited by tourists. Reaching Chumar Bakhoor is a serious mountain journey that requires experience, fitness, and proper preparation, and is best arranged with local guides who know the terrain.
