About
Rakaposhi View Point, sometimes called the Zero Point of Rakaposhi, lies in Ghulmet village on the Karakoram Highway in Nagar. From here the mountain rises almost straight up from the valley floor, one of the most dramatic uninterrupted drops in the world. Rakaposhi, whose name means Shining Wall, and which is also known as Dumani, the Mother of Mist, is the 27th highest mountain in the world. Its ridge, glaciers, and snowfields fill the whole skyline from the viewpoint. The site has a simple tourist area with seating and food stalls beside glacier-fed streams. In summer, many travellers cool their feet in the water while looking up at the peak, which makes it one of the most popular roadside stops in Gilgit-Baltistan.
