About
Sumayar Valley is part of the Shayar, Askurdas, and Sumayar group of villages, known together as the SAS Valley, in upper Nagar. A local road links the valley to the main Nagar road, passing terraced villages and rocky mountain scenery. Sumayar itself is the biggest village in the area and is surrounded by farms, streams, and meadows. The Mamubar Nala is the valley's main stream, with picnic spots and occasional waterfalls. The mountains above Sumayar are rich in minerals, and gems such as aquamarine and fluorite have been found at Chumar Bakhoor in the upper valley. The area is a good choice for visitors who want a quiet, village-based day trip from Hunza.
