Satpara Lake

Satpara Lake, also spelled Sadpara, is a large blue lake about 9 km from Skardu at 2,636 metres. It supplies water to Skardu and is the gateway to the Deosai plains.

About

Satpara Lake lies about 9 km south of Skardu, at an elevation of roughly 2,636 metres. It is a natural lake that has grown larger since the construction of Satpara Dam downstream, and its water supplies Skardu and a hydropower station. The lake is a deep blue, with a small island and bare mountains rising around it. Meltwater from the Deosai plains feeds the lake, and the road beside it leads on to Deosai National Park. Visitors enjoy the viewpoints, quiet walks, and boat rides. The walk to a viewpoint above the lake from Skardu is relatively easy and takes a few hours, so it is a good option for people who like to stretch their legs.
