Gahkuch → Phander → Shandur

Gilgit Ghizer road update — Shandur Pass access status. This route heads west from Gilgit into Ghizer district, passing through Gupis and Phander before reaching the Shandur Pass area. It offers access to some of the region's quieter alpine valleys, including Phander Valley's turquoise lake, before continuing toward the high-altitude polo grounds at Shandur. Like other Shandur-area routes, this road is only reliably open from June to October, closing with the first significant snowfall. Road quality varies along the way, with some stretches unpaved, particularly closer to Shandur itself.
